A community shaped by its history
The story behind the Brantley County name is not cast in stone. Most historians say it honors Benjamin Daniel Brantley, while others connect it to his son, William Gordon Brantley. What is certain is that the Georgia Legislature created the county from portions of Charlton, Pierce, and Wayne counties.
